Donna Summer (born LaDonna Adrian Gaines Dec+ember 31, 1948) is an American singer and songwriter who gained prominence during the disco era of music.

Summer was trained as a gospel singer prior to her introduction to the music industry and has always been known for her "Powerhouse" Vocal delivery. Though she is most notable for her disco hits, Summer's repertoire has expanded to include contemporary R'n&B, Rock, Mainstream pop, and Gospel. Summer is one of the most successful recording artists of the 1970s and 1980s and was the first artist to have three consecutive double albums hit #1 on the  Billboard Charts. She also became the first female artist to have four number-one singles in a thirteen-month period. Billboard magazine has noted that Summer's extensive career has landed her as the "Eighth" most succesful career by a female. Summer's website reports an estimate that she has sold more than 130 million records worldwide.

Joo tykkään minäkinwink
Omistan yhden LP:n Wanderers jota kuuntelin ennen paljon mutta kun LP soitin on rikki niin ei oo voinut vähään aikaan kuunnella.
Lempibiisejäni ovat mm. Hot Stuff, Breakdown,Funky Town ja She Works Hard For The Money.

Itse fanitan myös Donna Summeria. Ensimmäisen Donnan levyni ostin CD.nä 80-luvulla. Oli vielä ensimmäisiä CD-levyjäni. No eka CD.ni oli tietysti Madonnalta 'You Can Dance'...anyway..Silloin soi radiossa juuri listoille ponnahtanut 'Dinner With Gershwin' ja oli pakko saada Donnalta joku levy ja ostin 'She Works Hard For The Money'-levyn sen hienon kannen takia. Vieläkin on levy tallessa. Oma suosikkinilevyni on 'Once Upon A Time', joka on hieno kokonaisuus ja varsinkin futuristinen 'Now I Need You'-biisi..Uusin levy 'Crayons' oli myös yllättävän hyvä vaikkakin pelkäsin sen olevan kaupallista ja niin muovista r'n'b-huttua.

Diskon kuningatar Donna Summer on kuollut, kertoo TMZ-sivusto.
Donna Summer on kuollut tänä aamuna Yhdysvaltain aikaa syöpään Floridassa.

Hän oli kuollessaan 63-vuotias.

Summer sairasti salassa.

Hänet tunnetaan hiteistään Hot Stuff, Last Dance ja Bad Girls.

Summer palkittiin viidesti Grammy-palkinnolla.
